So, it’s only the 24th of February and this will be going up on the 25th. I am currently listening to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by JK Rowling on audio and I don’t have a single doubt in my mind that I’ll finish it before the end of the month. So that’s the first book that I’ll count toward my wrap up. I also read Chamber of Secrets and Prisoner of Azkaban. Can I just say ugh. Thanks Goblet of Fire for making me sad after such a happy moment.
The next books that I have read this month are the first four volumes of Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu by Kotomi Aoki. I haven’t finished the fourth volume just yet, but it’s a manga so it’ll be a really quick read for me. I wouldn’t be surprised if I get through the 5th before the end of the month also. As it’s a reread for me, I knew I’d enjoy it again.
I technically finished Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins in February, even though I started it in January. Mockingjay is the finale of the Hunger Games trilogy. I can’t say that I loved this book as much as many other people do. I enjoyed it enough to finish the trilogy but I didn’t absolutely love it. I plan on watching the last two movies at some point in time now that I’ve finished the series.
This next book I didn’t actually finish but I’m going to count it in my wrap up because I DNFed it. I only got maybe halfway through Beautifully Damaged by LA Fiore. As I’m sitting here think about this book, I feel like I know what would have made me continue this book and actually enjoy it more. Before I get into that, I’m going to say this: I DNFed this book because I personally didn’t enjoy it. That’s not to say it was a bad book and people wouldn’t enjoy it. It just wasn’t for me. I feel like this book would have been better for me if the first book was focused only on the two falling in love and getting together. It seemed they got together early and the rest was just ugh. It would have been better to focus on the relationship developing in the beginning. It was super instalove. I usually don’t have a problem with it because, I mean, come on. They’re books. If it’s a stand alone, then it’s rough to get through a romance from very beginning to end. And I personally experienced pretty instalove myself in my own life and I have no regrets. I’m happily married with a one and a half year old son. But that’s just me. But because this book is a romance, I feel they should have spent more time on them falling in love. But, like I said, that’s just me.
The last book I finished in February that I haven’t mentioned already is Angelfall by Susan Ee. This was a pleasant surprise to me. I thought I remembered hearing bad things about this book but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I started the second but I have since put it down for now so I can finish up Harry Potter.
