I absolutely adore Pokémon. I grew up playing it. So now that Pokémon Go is out and Gen 2 was just released, I can play it anywhere! I was fangirling when I saw this was a thing. I knew before I knew any of the questions that I would need to do this!
So, this one is super easy for me. I began reading again after I read Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. I adored this book. Before this, I was reading books I hated and I was forcing myself to read because I love doing it. I decided to read this book and now I’m finally enjoying reading again.
This book follows Audrey, a Victorian lady who stands up against the norms. She’s a coroner in training despite the fact is a “dirty” job that a lady shouldn’t be doing. But, she’s doing this during the time of Jack the Ripper’s streak. Audrey and her uncle’s apprentice, Thomas, use their skills hunt down Jack the Ripper.
This book is about two different “gangs,” the Socs and the Greasers. When one of the Greasers gets attacked by a group of Socs, it starts an all out war between the Greasers and Socs. This a beautiful story of friendship and family.
Okay, so this is one that I have changed my opinion on since I started reading it, but I say the Harry Potter series was turned off for me. Everyone was giving it such praise and hype but my brother was saying that despite the fact he likes the books, he thinks they are written for children. As an “adult,” I felt that I lost my window to read these books and wizards weren’t my thing anyway. But I decided to finally start reading them and I’m on the third and I love it. Maybe not as much as everyone else does but still.
Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson. It’s definitely a cliché romance to me but it’s definitely a good read. I enjoyed reading it!
This is the story of friendship, also. Emily is best friends with Sloane. Sloane is the outgoing type that is always friends with everyone she meets; whereas, Emily is the shy, secluded type. When Emily and Sloane met each other, Sloane brought Emily out of her shell. But when Sloane goes missing, Emily retreats back into that shell. That is, until she find a bucket list of things for her to do over the summer left by Sloane. In hopes of Sloane returning, she tries to complete the bucket list, meeting a boy along the way.
So, I was going to go with A Song of Ice and Fire for this but I have already started it so I decided to choose something else. In the end, I chose The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Between this, Infernal Devices, and Lady Midnight, that’s intimidating. I feel like I’ll never finish the series because I’m such a slow reader.
So, I think this was meant to be a book that kept me up at night because it was scary but I haven’t read any like that. So, I decided to go with one that kept me up all night reading. And even that was a tough one. I didn’t want to repeat any answers (even though the author is an answer for a later question). I decided to go with Cinder by Marissa Meyer. I did not want to put this book down any time that I was reading it. I just had to know what would happen next. It was pretty predictable but that doesn’t mean I didn’t adore it.
This is a retelling of Cinderella (ha! Get it. Cinder. Cinderella). It’s got cyborgs and androids. Cinder is a mechanic that ends up having to fix the prince’s android. But she doesn’t want him to know that she’s a cyborg despite the fact he continues to show interest in her. With an deadly illness spreading like wildfire, she needs to try to keep herself out of its path while also staying out of her step family’s way.
Oh man. Forever and ever Cath and Jest. I will forever be one of my favorite OTPs. They are from the Alice in Wonderland retelling Heartless by Marissa Meyer. This book tells the story of the Queen of Hearts before she became the Queen. Back when she was just a lady who loved to bake and wanted true love.
This was a tough one. I’m a slow reader. I’d have to say any manga! But I’m specifically choosing Boku no Hatsukoi wo Kimi ni Sasagu by Aoki Kotomi. I’ve read this before and I just didn’t want to stop the first time. It was so real and so sad. It’s about a man who is said to die before he reaches the age of 20 because of a heart issue. So, as he gets older, he tries to stay away from his childhood love so he doesn’t hurt her. But she refuses to leave.
This was a tough one because I haven’t finished a series in a long time. So I just figured I would choose one that I would love to see books in that same world. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas. I loved this book and I would love to see some books from different places in that universe.
I’d have to go with the Penryn and the End of Days series by Susan Ee. The first book in this series is Angelfall and I listened to it completely on audio. I didn’t think I would enjoy it because I’ve never read anything about angels and I don’t remember hearing anything really great about it. But I gave it a shot and I actually enjoyed it. I was going to do a review on it but I couldn’t seem to get any critical thoughts together about it. So I will finish the series then probably review it.
I’d have to say Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas. I am super excited to read this book even though it is very over hyped. I love Sarah J Maas’s writing and I can’t wait to get around to being entranced in this world.
I wish I had the collector’s editions of Fruits Basket. I loved that story growing up and I can’t wait to be able to get the collector’s editions of this manga.
I’m excited to read You’re Welcome, Universe by Whitney Gardner. I’m excited to read a story that depicts Deaf culture. I have not read any book that has any deaf characters. I can’t wait to read this.
Marissa Meyer! And Sarah J Maas. Always!
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco. I originally thought that Stalking Jack the Ripper was going to be a stand alone. As soon as I figure out this was going to be a series (when I added it to my GoodReads), I couldn’t wait for the next book. As soon as they released the name for it, I preordered it. It won’t be released until September 19th of this year, though.
So, there you have it! Let me know your answers to some of these questions and if you haven’t done it yet, I tag you!
