I have a habit of starting book that I don’t end up continuing. It’s not because I hate the books but I just get distracted by other books. I feel like by writing this post, I will go back to these books and finally finish them.
There are 15 books that I am “currently reading.” I am going to start out by mentioning the ones that I am currently actively reading (except for the fact I’m obsessed with Flash and haven’t read much of anything.
The book that I am currently most into, and will be picking up as soon as I finish catching up on The Flash is A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas. I’m absolutely loving this book and I was torn about whether I should finish this then watch Flash for vice versa. Obviously, I made a choice!
The other book that I’m actively reading/listening to is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by JK Rowling. This is my first read through of Harry Potter and I was listening to this in the car on the way home from work with my husband one day. He said he liked to listen to it with me so I decided we’ll listen to it together.
These next ones are going to be rough. I don’t really have an explanations for why I haven’t finished these. I just got distracted by other books. So here’s a list with tiny explanations. The first (third, technically) is Inferno by Dan Brown. I started listening to this on audio while I was at work one day. I ended up not finishing it. Because it was on YouTube, the video ended up getting deleted and I don’t remember where I left off. Because of this, I haven’t tried to pick it back up again.
The next I actually plan on reading for Diversity Bingo (which I plan on doing my TBR for this challenge and it should go up Monday March 20th). This book is Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer. This book has been rough for me to read. I was going to say this book was unflinchingly honest but it’s not. Honest, yes. Unflinchingly, no. This book has made me cringe so many times. I could only read this book in bursts. It killed me. That’s the reason that I haven’t finished this book just yet. I am going to power through it though.
I began reading Of Fire and Stars by Audrey Coulthurst after I got it in one of my OwlCrates. I have yet to finish it though. I am also going to read this for Diversity Bingo. I was kind of iffy about this book just because it’s not my thing. I’m not used to reading books about non-straight couples. I want to read this to help diversify my reading but I just haven’t gotten around to reading it all yet. The little bit that I have read, I definitely enjoyed. I look forward to seeing where this story goes.
The next story that I started was Kissed: Belle by Cameron Dokey. I had picked this one out of my TBR jar and kind of forced myself to read it at the time of drawing it. I ended up putting it down to read a book that I wanted to read more. From what I read, this book will be a good one to read when I just need a nice fluffy read. Either on a cold winter night, snuggled in front of the fire while my son sleeps or even a summer day while my son plays in the sand. Either way, I do plan on finishing this book at some point in time.
The next book started on my Kindle and through audio. I decided to stop reading/listening to All The Good Parts by Loretta Nyhan because I owned a physical copy of this book. Because I got this on my Kindle through Kindle Unlimited and that limits how many books can be rented at a time, I decided to just stop reading it where I left off and I would pick up in physical form. I found this subject intriguing to me because I had my son fairly young (I was 20 when I had him) because I was afraid of losing the chance of being a mother due to an issue in my family’s genes. But I do plan on picking this book back up again, hopefully soon.
The next book is one that I’m very sad that I haven’t finished yet. I wasn’t in the right mindset to read this book the first time I picked it up and I haven’t had the motivation to pick it up since then. This book is Incarnate by Jodi Meadows. The writing in this book seemed to be pretty well done but I just couldn’t seem to get into it. I don’t know if it was because the book itself was slow or if it was my mindset when I went into this. I hope that I will pick this up and be able to enjoy it.
I started reading The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith within the past few weeks and I was thoroughly enjoying it. But, then I ended up ordering A Court of Mist and Fury and I put this book down as soon as it came in. If I were a faster reader, I may have finished this book before picking up ACOMAF but I just couldn’t wait to read it. I will definitely be getting back to this.
I started reading A Game of Thrones years ago. I’m not even a hundred pages into it yet and I’ve already put it down. It’s not that I wasn’t enjoying this book. It’s just hard for me to read because it seems to be a carbon copy of the TV show. I do plan on continuing this series and hopefully getting more insight into some of my favorite characters.
I absolutely adore Morgan Matson’s book Since You’ve Been Gone. It was such a cute little book that I connected with on a different level than most books that I’ve read. I decided to pick up another book by her and I don’t regret it, even though I haven’t finished it. Not finishing Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour is once again the fault of my slow reading. I was hoping that this would be a quick little read to up my read count but I wasn’t reading it as fast as I had hoped. Definitely will finish this book sometime soon though.
Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake. I don’t even know what I think about this book yet. I haven’t even hit fifty pages yet! I can’t give much of a thought on this book just yet. It doesn’t seem like a bad book but it just seems to be really slow. I can’t wait to see what happens with the sisters, though.
I have very mixed feelings about American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis. I was almost 150 pages into this book before I put it down. I just couldn’t seem to continue. I would like to because I’m interested in these types of books but I just couldn’t seem to get through it. I want to read the book before I watch the movie, though. It’s just so descriptive and in a way that I don’t like. It makes sense because of the way Patrick is, as a character. I just need to push past it and finish this book.
I got Roseblood by AG Howard in an OwlCrate and I was super excited about that. I felt that I wouldn’t have bought this book if it weren’t for OwlCrate, which happens often and I can’t even complain! They have all been books I wanted to read but I just haven’t really wanted to buy just yet. But back to the book. The only reason I put this down was because I had other books I wanted to read when I started this. I had just planned on reading the first chapter but I was too intrigued to put it down. I haven’t seen Phantom of the Opera so we’ll see how I feel about this book.
The last book I’m going to mention in this post is Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter. I started to read this book during a readalong I wanted to participate in but I just couldn’t get through it. When I started reading this, I was more interested in a cute romance. This book just wasn’t what I was looking for. I plan on continuing at some point to see how I feel about it but we will have to wait and see.
Let me know which book I need to finish first. I plan on giving all these books another chance but I am unsure where to start. Total there are 15 books that I have started but haven’t finished. I need to get through these books! Let me know where you think I should start first.
Thank you for reading this. If it seems a bit rushed, that’s because I ended up not finishing this on the day I planned so I had to rush to finish it the day it’s going up. Since I switched to just writing about books, let me know what you would all like to see from me! I want to write several posts so I can get ahead.
