Book Buddyathon Wrap Up

It is currently 1pm. I am posting this so much later than I normally do. I planned on writing this yesterday but then I just decided to sleep. So I’m going to get to this.

If you want to read what my TBR was, you can read it here. Now let’s get into it!

I did this readathon with Jessica over at JessicaMarie493 (go check her out, I love her)! I read 3 books during this readathon.

The first book that I finished was Orange Vol 2 by Ichigo Takano. I read the first volume sometime earlier this year. I absolutely loved this book. I didn’t finish the little bit at the end. I finished the story of Orange but they added in a few chapters of another manga created by Ichigo Takano. I loved the ending of Orange but I do wish that there was a bit more. I would have liked to see a tiny bit more after the ending.

The next book that I finished was the entire JiuJiu series by Touya Tobina. It was okay in my opinion. The majority of the story was nothing special and the ending, to me, was not at all what I wanted. It ended up feeling rushed and you were left with more questions than answers.

The last book that I read and my absolute favorite read of this month was The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. This book was spectacular. It was so well written. The amount of thought that went into this book was shown throughout all of it. The topic that this book surrounds is so heavy yet somehow Angie Thomas managed to make it into a story that not only made me cry but made me laugh, love, and rethink everything. I highly highly recommend for everyone to read this book. I will be doing a full, spoiler free and spoiler, review for this book soon.

So, out of the three books that I read, I managed to get all but one of the challenges.

Buddy read a book: The Hate U Give
Read a book that is your buddy’s favorite color: Orange
Read a book that starts with your buddy’s first initial: JiuJiu
Read a book that you wanted to read: The Hate U Give and Orange

The challenge that I didn’t hit was the “choose three books and read the one your buddy chooses.” I got Blindsided by Priscilla Cummings for this one but I just haven’t finished it yet.

I’m going to be strictly reading after I finish a couple more posts so I may manage to finish it before the night is over. I wasn’t too sure when this readathon ended so I’m just going to give myself until 11:59pm to finish this book. After that, I will be picking up the ARC that I started reading and getting to at least halfway. I will then be reading The Fill-in Boyfriend by Kasie West. This was the book for the buddy read group that I’m in on Facebook and I haven’t gotten to it yet.

Have you read any of the books that I read for this readathon? If so, what were your spoiler-free thoughts?

Happy Reading!

    1. I used to read it all the time. I’ve always been a slow reader but manga have gone quickly for me. So I just read that instead of other types of books. But it got to a point where I’d read all the ones I was interested in on the app I used. So even now it’s mainly just rereading. Thankfully the two mentioned here were first time reads for me!
