May Wrap Up

I didn’t think I was going to do as well as I did this month with reading. But somehow, I managed to participate in 2 readathons. I also managed to get through 11 books (technically). I DNFed two. I’ll start out with the two books that I DNFed just to get them out of the way then we’ll move on to the books I read in the first readathon then random books I finished this month.

I was doing fine with this book most of the way through it. It just got to a certain point that I couldn’t handle. It disturbed me in so many ways that I personally could not continue on with this book. And when I realized that this incident happened less than halfway through the book, I was even more frustrated with it. If you don’t care about spoilers and want to know what it was that bothered me so much with this book, message me privately on any of the social media that I have linked below.

I’m going to start out by saying I’m not the person to ask for a review about this book from. Between Illuminae, Gemina, and this (all of which I couldn’t get into), I’ve come to realize that I am not someone who enjoys reading sci-fi books. I would recommend this if you enjoy sci-fi romance, though. It was a rushed, in my honest opinion, but I do feel that some people will enjoy this book.

I loved this book. It was the first ARC that I read and I stayed up all night to read it. Don’t go into this book thinking it’s going to be the best book ever written because it’s not. It’s adorable, funny, cute. all those words that would describe a book to take to the beach and get absorbed in. I highly recommend this book and I can’t wait to read more from Lizzy. She may be my first Kindle purchases!

This book is a must-read for everyone. It’s so relevant right now. This opened my eyes to so many things going on right now. I was close-minded enough that I didn’t think about how exactly how a situation like this affected everyone involved. Now, I know just how bad it can be. Just how hard it can be. I think that everyone needs to read this book. It’s so hard for me to write a review. I feel like any review I try to give just wouldn’t express my true feelings about this book or the importance of it. Just read it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this manga. I’ve been reading manga for as long as I can remember. I have always loved it. I stopped reading it for a while because I had read pretty much every manga that I was interested in that was on the website/app I used. When I started reading Vol 1 on this series, it sounded really familiar. But now that I’ve finished it, I know I never read it before. Thankfully. But, despite my utter love for this book, I did have one issue. I feel like the ending just didn’t feel complete. I wish I would have gotten a little bit more of their story. If anyone knows if it was continued after the ending, let me know! No spoilers, though.

I liked this series for 90% of it. I got to the finally volume and it frustrated me. It was rushed and left you with more questions than answers. It’s frustrating. I understand the author was just letting you “create” the ending yourself but I HATE those. Wrap things up nicely and tie it with a bow for me. Don’t leave me hanging like this.

I was iffy about this book. I originally gave it 4/5 stars but the longer it sat, the less I seemed to remember or like about it. Then, because this was the Java and the Librarians Book Club book of the month, there was a live show. After that, I realized all of the issues I had with this book. It just wasn’t as good as I originally thought. I was nothing special. There was a huge lack of diversity, everyone seemed to be the ‘bad guy’. It just wasn’t very well written, which is sad because this wasn’t a debut novel. I would have given it the benefit of the doubt if it was, but it wasn’t so there’s that. I will be giving Kasie West another try but I may end up unhauling this book.

I was loving this book in the beginning. I was loving the relationship that was forming. It was unrealistic, which was fine. It was kinda instalove, fine. I was just looking for that cheesy romance. But I didn’t get it. I was enjoying it but then the characters started acting in ways that were driving me insane. They were dragging things out and it was all just ridiculous to me. I did not enjoy this book the way I had hoped.

I did not enjoy this book as much as the first one. This book seemed to be more background noise for me. I got through it quickly but I just didn’t seem to care. My favorite character wasn’t in most of the book. But I still decided to continue on with the series.

I personally thought this was okay. It wasn’t the greatest thing I’ve read but it wasn’t the worst. I noticed a lot of people giving this comic hate and one star ratings for it being a mess. I will get more into why I think that it NEEDED to be a mess when I finish the second volume and post my spoiler-free review for it. Look forward to that closer to the release date. I read this for the Comic Book Readathon also.

    1. I hope you enjoy it. I wasn’t a fan but I don’t like sci-fi. I’m glad that even though I didn’t finish it or enjoy it myself, I was still able to help someone else take the dive and try to enjoy it for themselves.
