Hey everyone! Welcome back and if you’re new, I’m Amanda from A Court of Books and Love!
Today I’m going to be talking about my September TBR.
Now, I have a super ambitious TBR for Sept. I start school on the 4th so I don’t know how many of these books I’m actually going to get to. I’m going to try to get to at least most of these.
I have about 15 books planned out including the ones I am currently reading. I’m writing this on the 31st of August and I may have finished one of these.
So lets get into this and start out with the books I’m currently reading.
I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
I’m currently reading this book along with Jessica at JessicaMarie493. We wanted to finish it for Readathin and there’s a chance she’ll finish it but I got distracted today. So I know I won’t finish it by the end of the month. But I do plan on finishing it in the beginning of the September.
This book follows a set of boy/girl twins, Jude and Noah. It’s told it both of their POVs. Noah’s is told when they were 13 and Jude’s is when they are 16. We get to watch as they grow apart from each other and how it has affected them.
I would like to mention that this book is pretty heavy in the magical realism. I wish I had been told before I started it. Magical realism isn’t really my type of writing style. It’s heavier in Noah’s POV than Jude’s, though. It’s pretty easy to get into but the beginning was rough for me.
Unexpected by Jenny Frame
I’m about 80% through this book when I am writing this. I got this book from NetGalley and the publisher, Bold Strokes Books, for my honest review.
This book is about Dale, a mechanic who loves cars and women, and Becca who is a mom in hiding. Becca is the mother of Dale’s children and they end up meeting after their son ends up finding Dale so she can help them out. And of course, these two end up falling in love.
I’m loving this book so far. I don’t think I’ve read a book that’s completely focused on a f/f relationship besides Queens of Geek. This is an adult novel so be prepared for some in depth sexy time. But I am loving this book so far and I plan on hopefully finishing it tonight before bed (yesterday when you see this).
Now onto the books that I have to read for my reading goals for the rest of the year. If I did a blog post, I’ll link it down below along with the video that I did. So let’s just get into these.
Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris
One of my goals was to read at least one of these books a month so I can get through the Sookie Stackhouse series. I started reading this series a while ago and I ended up stopping after a while. I want to restart them so I can finish the series finally.
In case you don’t know, this is the book series that the show True Blood was based off of. It follows our main character, Sookie, who can read minds. In this world, vampires live right along with humans and are known to the humans. Sookie tries at all costs to avoid vampires, as anyone would, but when she ends up falling in love with vampire, everything changes.
The Mysterious Affair at Styles by Agatha Christie
Another goal I set for myself is reading at least one Agatha Christie book a month. I don’t know what this one is about but I do look forward to reading this.
Scythe by Neal Schusterman
This book is from my TBR jar. I have added all of the books on my TBR into this jar and I want to start drawing one a month (at least) and reading that book. So we’re going to see how this goes.
All I really know about this book is that it takes place in a world where there is no disease or death. So there are people, Scythes, who are tasked with killing people. Or at least something along those lines. I’m just really interested in this story. I’ve heard great things about both this book and the author so I’m excited.
Now these next two books are going to be buddy reads and they are connected to each other. I will be reading this along with Taylor over at Bookish Taylor.
Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
This book is going to be a reread! Taylor and I decided to reread this book in preparation for this next book!
This book is about Audrey Rose who is, against all odds, studying to be a coroner. This is a story of Audrey Rose fighting the norms for women in Victorian London and also her task of solving the murders of all of these women by Jack the Ripper.
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco
I’m so excited for this book! I’m not going to give a synopsis to avoid spoilers but I can’t even express how excited I am.
The next book is a book club book. It’s for the book club run by Dylan (DylantheReader5) and Jay (TheAwkwardBookworm), Random Book Monthly Book Club.
Alex Approximately by Jenn Bennett
I have no clue what this book is about. Oops.
The rest of these books are ARCs that I have received through giveaways, from an author, and from NetGalley. I don’t really know what a lot of these are about so I’m just going to list them, add a picture, and if they aren’t out yet, the release date.
Genuine Fraud by E Lockhart
I won this book in a Twitter giveaway. It comes out on Sept 5.
Aaru by David Meredith
I was contacted by the author to read and review this book for him. It’s already out.
The Girl Who Ignored Ghosts by KC Tansley
I got this book through NetGalley so I could read this next book. It’s already out.
The Girl Who Saved Ghosts by KC Tansley
I got this book through NetGalley. It comes out October 17.
Protected by Claire Zorn
I got this book through NetGalley. It comes out October 3.
The Note by Zoe Folbigg
I received this book from NetGalley. This will be released October 1.
Royal Pain by Tracy Wolff
I got this book through NetGalley and it comes out September 19.
So I hope you enjoyed this! Let me know if you would like to buddy read any of these books! I would always love to buddy read with you guys!
I’ll see you guys in the next one!
