My Reading Goals (Sept 2017-Dec 2017)

So, I started out the year with some reading goals. They were just too over ambitious and I knew that going into it. But I decided to give up on those and created new ones that I think I can manage!

The first goal that I have for myself is that I would like to use my TBR Jar more often.

I have a jar that has all of the books I own and I have on my Kindle. I have had a habit of choosing the book and not reading it. So I want to get better about actually using that.

The next goal I have is that I want to read Game of Thrones. Just the first book in the Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin.

I’m currently 10% through and I have until the end of the year so I don’t see how I wouldn’t be able to.

I also would like to read an Agatha Christie book a month. I have read two of them and I would like to read more. So I’m going to set myself up to read at least one a month. I’m also going to try to read it in order.

Another series that I want to read is the Sookie Stackhouse series. Or the Southern Vampires or whatever books the True Blood show was based on.

I started reading these a while back and just never ended up finishing it. So I want to restart it and get around to actually finishing it. So a book a month is how I’m going to go about that also. I won’t have it done by the end of the year though.

I need to read a single Shakespeare play. I have a Shakespeare collection and I just want to start reading them. I think I’ll end up reading Romeo and Juliet since I’ve already read that once and it’ll be easy to get back into it.

Along those same lines, I would like to read one poetry collection. So recommend some of your favorites down below!

But then there’s my book buying ban. I’m currently on a book buying ban and I would like to make it last to the end of the year. We’ll see, though.

And the last goal that I have for myself is that I would like to read my ARCs two months ahead. I currently get books through NetGalley and I plan on continuing to do so. But I would like to try to stay 2 months ahead. Obviously, that won’t count for books I got after the two month mark but if I have it two months ahead, I’ll read them!

So that’s about it. This was just a quick little check in and you can go watch my video talking about my reading goals, here.

Happy Reading!

Hey Everyone!

tumblr_nzuho5z7721v1p15bo1_500.gif

Let’s get right into this!

Korean Dramas

Ha. Yeah. I think we all know how that went.

I have watched nothing!

tumblr_oqg3267JBe1vyw7cfo1_500.gif

TV Shows

I did watch Game of Thrones and I enjoyed the episode. It was good. I loved the final F you at the end. And the speech between Dany and Jon was great, imo.

tumblr_okvfkbOXqh1w599b0o1_400.gif

Writing

Yeah. Nothing.

Blogging

I got all my posts up except for a Saturday review. I finished Of Fire and Stars on Friday and I didn’t want to write a review Saturday. So I didn’t. Maybe I’ll write one today and get it up this Saturday. Let me know if you want to see that. It’ll be completely spoiler-free.

Books

And finally! The part that always has the most, what I read.

This week I kept track of my reading progress. I started on the 1st so I’ll share with you what I read and how many pages I read of each!

  • Tuesday (8/1): Of Fire and Stars – 96 pgs
  • Wednesday (8/2): Of Fire and Stars – 53 pgs
  • Thursday (8/3): Of Fire and Stars – 95 pgs

I hope you enjoyed! I want to continue on with Full Metal Alchemist but I have so many other books to read this month! The struggle!

How did your week go?

July Wrap Up

Hi Bookies!

tumblr_on3yjfrru31snnbgwo1_500

This month has been a very productive month for me. I managed to read 15 books in July! I’ll list the books, some stats about them, then the overall stats.

I apologize, this posted for some reason long before it was meant to. So I took that down. It wasn’t completed and was supposed to be saved as a draft. I don’t know what happened. Here’s the full and updated one.

Let’s just get into this!

Tome Topple TBR

Hi Bookies!

tumblr_oiq2enq4xK1urxr04o1_250

Today, I’ve got another post for you and that would be my Tome Topple TBR!

Tome Topple is a readathon that is focused on reading only tomes, or books over 500 pages.

This readathon was created by Sam. I’ll have all of the links below, including those of the Co-hosts!

Rules:

  • Book must be over 500 pages
  • Bindups don’t count

Challenges:

  • Read more than 1 tome
  • Read a graphic novel (still has to be over 500 pgs but can be a collection as in: Fruits Basket’s Collector’s Editions (they aren’t technically tomes though since those specifically are under 500))
  • Read a tome that is part of a series
  • Buddy read a tome
  • Read an adult novel

I’ve got 4 books planned out for this readathon but I only really hope to finish 3 of them. Let’s just get into this.

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

960

I plan on listening to this book on audio while I’m at work. I started listening to it months ago but I’m going to restart it and finish it this time!

This will count for:

Read an adult novel
Read a tome that’s part of a series

Vampire Knight by Matsuri Hino

263145

This one I’m kind of cheating for but that’s okay! It’s not technically a tome for each volume of this but I’m going to read the entire thing during Tome Topple. And I’ll be reading it on my phone/Kindle so it’ll be continuous for me rather than separate books. So I’m counting it.

This will count for:

Read a graphic novel
Read more than one tome

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

17838528

This one and the next one are up in the air. I don’t know which Im going to choose so I’m just going to count both and hope that I can get to both of them. I doubt it, though.

*Update 8/3* I’m buddy reading this with Julie, Chelsea, and Taylor. I’ll link all of their stuff below!

Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackeni Lee

IMG_1152.jpg

I got this book in July’s OwlCrate and I can’t wait to get into it!

I’m buddy reading this with Bree! I’ll link her stuff below!

If you want to buddy read any of these, let me know! Except Angels and Demons. That’s the only one that I would rather not buddy read with anyone. But any of the other three, let me know!

Top 5 Wednesdays: Book Covers You’d Love To Live In

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by Lainey at GingerReadsLainey and is moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out the GoodReads group here!

This week’s topic is book covers you’d like to be transported to. Now I’m taking this as not counting the story on the inside. So I’m going to go through my shelves and decide which I’d like for this!

Now, I’m writing this the morning of this post going up and I’d like to notify you guys that I’m not going to be doing T5W on the 16th. It’s a topic that I don’t want to do and probably couldn’t come up with enough answers for so I’m going to be talking about something else!

I’d also like to let you guys know that I’m not going to be linking anything besides the links above. I am going to be working a last minute 12hr shift so I’m going to need to go to sleep soon. And I want to finish Of Fire and Stars tonight.

1. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

17838528

This book cover has dogs and ice cream. What else would I need in my life?

2. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

16299.jpg

Alone on an island? Sign me up.

3. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

11071466

Morgan Matson just knows how to get to my heart with these covers. I don’t like swimming but I wouldn’t mind sitting on a dock, the sunset in the background, reading a nice book.

4. Effortless With You by Lizzy Charles

18129111

Because I can’t get through any list/tag without mentioning Lizzy Charles. And because I would adore being alone, surrounded by a field. But my anxiety wouldn’t enjoy that and I’d freak at every noise.

5. Shoot Down the Wendy Bird by Julie Zantopoulos

28491054.jpg

The beauty of this. Could you imagine sitting on a porch swing, looking out at that view? Ugh. I need this in my life.

What are some covers you’d like to live in?

Tag Tuesday: Wonder Woman Book Tag

Hi Bookies!

tumblr_o9di1062Rc1vt3qqlo1_500.gif

I’m here today with another Tag Tuesday post! Today’s tag is the Wonder Woman Book Tag! This was created by the lovely Amber! I’ll leave all of her links down below!

I’m going to tag:

Jessica
Donna
Chelsea

I linked to everyone’s most recent post as of 7/28 ❤ Except for Chelsea because her blog is through Blogger so I don’t know how that works. I know that WordPress won’t notify the person unless you link to one of their posts.

Let’s just get into this!

tumblr_ngvgsdlakW1tq4of6o1_500

1. Wonder Woman: Your favorite badass female book character

I’d have to say Audrey Rose from Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco.

IMG_0608

2. Fantasy Island: A book setting you want to escape to

I’m going to kind of cheat on this one and go with Supacon from Queens of Geek by Jen Wilde. It’s not really another setting but it’s definitely another world. A world that I would fit right into.

28245707

3. London: A hyped book that let you down

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas. I hyped this book up for myself after reading ACOMAF and I just couldn’t handle it. I wanted it to be so much more than it was. It was boring and the ending bothers me too much.

img_3955

4. Steve Trevor: A book that has a beautiful cover and a great story (i.e. great personality)

Caraval! I absolutely adore this cover! It’s so gorgeous. And I adored the story inside of it. It was so interesting to me! I have a full review that I’ll link below along with any other reviews that I have for any of the books mentioned.

IMG_0656

5. Lasso of Truth: A book you hated

City. Of. Ashes.

51n2W6yH+kL._SX332_BO1,204,203,200_

6. Wonder Woman’s Shield: A book so sad you need a shield

A List of Cages. This was the first book that popped into my head for this question. I cried my eyes out.

25613472

7. No Man’s Land: A book that you want to send through No Man’s Land (i.e. shoot it to death)

I’m going to go with Wrong Question, Right Answer from the Bourbon Steet Boys series by Elle Casey. I enjoyed the first two but this one was just bad in my opinion. I didn’t like Toni at all. I liked her the first two books but I guess that’s because I wasn’t in her head. I am not a fan of her anymore. And now I’m trying to motivate myself to read the last one but I just didn’t like this one.

29485178

8. Ares: A villian that is scary, but you can’t seem to hate

The Darkling! I was typing out these questions before I went through and answered them and I knew that I would choose the Darkling for this.

He was a horrible person. But I just couldn’t seem to hate him. I knew in the last book that he was a bad person. But still! He was just trying to save his country!

IMG_4099

9. Dr. Poison: A villian that has no reason to exist

I wasn’t sure of an answer so I asked my husband. He said Sandman from Spider-Man 3. So, yeah. We’ll go with that.

10. The Amazons: A book that you wish had more/better LGBT+ representation

Okay. Now hear me out for this one. I think that the A Court of Thorns and Roses should have better LGBT+ rep. Maas tried to do it in ACOWAR but it just didn’t work. It was forced and you could tell. I just wish that she wouldn’t have been pressured into it and it ending up badly. I give her props for trying but I personally just didn’t like it.

IMG_0554

11. Justice League: What superhero book friends do you tag?

Check above!
