Top 5 Wednesdays: Book Covers You’d Love To Live In

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by Lainey at GingerReadsLainey and is moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out the GoodReads group here!

This week’s topic is book covers you’d like to be transported to. Now I’m taking this as not counting the story on the inside. So I’m going to go through my shelves and decide which I’d like for this!

Now, I’m writing this the morning of this post going up and I’d like to notify you guys that I’m not going to be doing T5W on the 16th. It’s a topic that I don’t want to do and probably couldn’t come up with enough answers for so I’m going to be talking about something else!

I’d also like to let you guys know that I’m not going to be linking anything besides the links above. I am going to be working a last minute 12hr shift so I’m going to need to go to sleep soon. And I want to finish Of Fire and Stars tonight.

1. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson

17838528

This book cover has dogs and ice cream. What else would I need in my life?

2. And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

16299.jpg

Alone on an island? Sign me up.

3. Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

11071466

Morgan Matson just knows how to get to my heart with these covers. I don’t like swimming but I wouldn’t mind sitting on a dock, the sunset in the background, reading a nice book.

4. Effortless With You by Lizzy Charles

18129111

Because I can’t get through any list/tag without mentioning Lizzy Charles. And because I would adore being alone, surrounded by a field. But my anxiety wouldn’t enjoy that and I’d freak at every noise.

5. Shoot Down the Wendy Bird by Julie Zantopoulos

28491054.jpg

The beauty of this. Could you imagine sitting on a porch swing, looking out at that view? Ugh. I need this in my life.

What are some covers you’d like to live in?

Top 5 Wednesday: Books Not Set In/Inspired By The Western World

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by Lainey at GingerReadsLainey and is moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out the GoodReads group here!

This week’s T5W is favorite books that aren’t set in the Western world or if they’re fantasy books, not inspired by the Western World. I haven’t read anything that’s not set in/inspired by the Western world so I am going to just do books that I want to read that fit this.

Top 5 Wednesday: Children’s Books

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by Lainey at GingerReadsLainey and is moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out the GoodReads group here!

So, I don’t read too many children’s books right now, but I have a few that I read in school that I loved and want to reread. So, I’ll mention those! These are in no particular order!

The Outsiders by SE Hinton

IMG_0949

If you’ve been following me for a while, then I’m sure you know that this is one of my favorite books of all time. I adore this story and if you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it.

The Giver by Lois Lowry

IMG_0942

This is another one that I’m sure I’ve mentioned loving before. I absolutely love it and can’t get enough of it. I’ve read Gathering Blue and Messenger also but haven’t finished Son yet.

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D Taylor

310459.jpg

I don’t remember exactly what this book was about, but it’s definitely one that I want to reread. I read it back in middle school and it was one that stuck in my mind, even though I didn’t remember the actual story. I know that it’s part of a series and it’s one of the middle books in the series so I may just read the whole series.

The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein

370493.jpg

I have never been huge on poetry, but this is one poet that I adore. I got one of his books for my son and I plan on getting him the rest. This is a very important story for children to hear, though.

Shugo Chara! by Peach-Pit

1881621

This was more of an anime that I adored but it’s also a manga. This was one of those ones where I of course shipped the girl with the older kid even though she was only in elementary school. But that’s okay. I was a weird kid. I want to reread/rewatch this show just to see how I like it now that I’m an adult.

Top 5 Wednesday: Books Without Romance

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by Lainey at GingerReadsLainey and is moderated by Sam from Thoughts on Tomes. You can check out the GoodReads group here!

This week’s T5W is books without romance. So my top 5 favorite books that have little to no romance. This is a tough one for me because I adore romance so much.

5. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee

2657

4. Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie

853510

3. Night by Elie Wiesel

1617 (1)

2. The Giver by Lois Lowry

3636

1. The Outsiders by SE Hinton

231804 (1)

This was a really quick post. It was hard for me because, like I said, I don’t read non-romantic books. So a lot of these were books that I read in high school and all of these are books I read for school. But I still loved them all and I want to reread all of these at some point so I can enjoy them outside of school reading.

Top 5 Wednesday: Side Ships

This meme was created by Lainey from GingerReadsLainey and Sam from Thoughts on Tomes, both from YouTube.

You can join into the fun in the GoodReads group here.

I didn’t really enjoy last week’s topic and didn’t think that I would be able to give answers that I was 100% comfortable with. So I just skipped it and ended up doing something else for Wednesday.

Let’s just get into this.

This week’s topic is your favorite relationships between two characters who aren’t the protagonist!

These will be in no particular order. Just how I thought about them.

Be warned that this may contain a little bit of spoilers for side character relationships.

Orange by Ichigo Takano

IMG_0643(Photo linked to Amazon)

The first one I’d like to mention is from the manga Orange. I absolutely adored the relationship between Azusa and Saku. They were just meant to be together and they were adorable.

Twilight by Stephanie Meyer

IMG_0645
(Photo Linked to Amazon)

I feel like I mention Twilight in every tag/meme I participate in. And I’ve fine with that. I have to say that I loved Paul and Rachel’s relationship. We don’t get too much of an insight into their relationship but it’s nice that there was one healthy relationship in that story (at least, from what I remember).

Flash

tumblr_o3blak1IzB1suqfifo1_500

This one I’m chosing from the TV show Flash. There are so many adorable couples in this show. My favorite would have to be HR and Tracy. I don’t want to spoil anything outside of that. Just know, I love them.

Harry Potter by JK Rowling

IMG_0648
(Photo linked to Amazon)

I’m going to cheat a bit here and use Harry Potter. I haven’t read too many books with memorable side character relationships. But I did love Ron and Hermoine. I knew that it was going to happen when I originally read this story because I was spoiled for it. So seeing the growth in their friendship into a relationship made me happy.

A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas

IMG_0554(Photo linked to Amazon)

I have to say the last one (and my favorite) is definitely Nesta and Cassian. They are seriously perfect. I really hope that we can get a book following those two.

That’s about it. I don’t have much else to say. Who are some of your favorite side character ships? Make sure to put the title of the book first, then mention who it is as a way of spoiler warning.

Happy Reading!

Top 5 Wednesday: Top 5 Minor Characters

*Top 5 Wednesday is run by Top 5 Wednesday was created by Thoughts on Tomes and Ginger Reads Lainey. You can see the GoodReads page here.*

This week’s T5W is about our top 5 favorite minor characters. I am writing this post later that I had originally planned because I had to think about this one. Minor characters seem to always be so under written. I had a couple pop into my mind right away but I’ll mention those two last! I’m also going to try really hard to stay away from Harry Potter but it’s currently 5:20pm and I have to get in a shower at 7pm for work. So, if you read about a Harry Potter character, then you know I made it to 6:30 without being able to think of anyone else.

I’d like to start off with one that I think would have been a popular answer a while ago but may not be mentioned as much now. That would be Alice from the Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyer. She was always my favorite. I haven’t read the books since I was a very young teen but I was obsessed. So obsessed, that I was roleplaying on Myspace in the Twilight world. But Alice was one of my favorite side characters. I also loved the whole wolf pack but I’ll just mention Alice here. Werewolves were always better than vampires in my eyes. #TeamJacobForLife

(P.s. ignore my tattered copies of these books. They’ve been used until their death, eaten by dogs, and torn by my son)

6241749520_IMG_0246

The next side character I’d like to mention is the Mad Hatter specifically from Heartless by Marissa Meyer. He was such a well built character that I couldn’t help but love him. I enjoyed the Alice in Wonderland Johnny Depp movies and loved Mad Hatter there. This just amplified it.

img_3795-1

Now, hear me out on this next one. Let me explain before you rip my throat out. Hailey from The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. Now, I absolutely HATE her character. But, she was so well developed. Her character is so common in the real world. I’m not going to explain why but if you’ve read this book then you understand. I love how well thought out she was. Great job, Angie Thomas. Great job. P.s. If you haven’t read this book. Read it. No ifs ands or buts about it. Just read it.

IMG_0387

The second to last character I would like to mention is from Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. I’m not silent about my love for this book and I’m greatly looking forward to the second book in this series (I think it’s going to be a trilogy), Hunting Prince Dracula. But the character I would like to mention is Audrey Rose’s cousin. I can’t think of her name right now. But with Audrey Rose trying to do what she loves in a world that doesn’t think she should be more than just a pretty item to look at, her cousin is supportive of her. Her cousin doesn’t want to do anything but just be a woman who goes to the tea parties. But that doesn’t stop her from supporting Audrey Rose. Which is awesome. All of the reviews seem to overlook her, though.

22a4da08-8202-4557-87a5-39cf134ab37f-279-0000001807187c00

The last person I would like to mention is the entire minor character cast from the whole ACOTAR series. All of these characters seem to be so well built and thought out. There’s so much backstory behind all of them and you can tell that Sarah J Maas worked very hard on building this world and expressing how hard she did work on it. I love when every character is as thought out as these ones are. And even if you originally think they aren’t, later in the series, that may change. I’m almost halfway through ACOWAR and I’m loving that I’m still learning new things about character that were just glossed over in the previous books.

img_2601

Well, that’s about it! I managed to get through without mentioning Harry Potter so special shoutout to the Harry Potter minor characters!

T5W: Top 5 Summer Reads

Top 5 Wednesday was created by Thoughts on Tomes and Ginger Reads Lainey. You can see the GoodReads page here.

I haven’t done a Top 5 Wednesday in  a while so I figured I would do this one. This week’s is Top 5 Summer Reads. It was easy enough and I had a lot I would like to talk about. I’m going to cheat on some of them and mention an author but that’s okay!

So, let’s start out with one of those. I think that any Morgan Matson book would fit for the summer. Every one of her books seems to be such summer reads. I have only read one completely through, but I loved it.

I definitely think that the Selection series is another one that is such a summer read. I haven’t read it yet, but judging by the things I’ve heard about it, I’m excited to get to it this summer.

I also would like to get around to reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I hear this is a a cute romance and I think romances are the best for summer.

Kasie West would be another author that any of her books would apply for this. I read The Fill-in Boyfriend and I loved it. I could see myself just laying in a hammock out in the sun reading a book like that. I’ll be doing a review on The Fill-in Boyfriend soon.

The last book I would like to mention is a new release that I was lucky enough to get an ARC of. You can read my spoiler-free review of it here. Even though this story took place during school, I still think it’d be a great summer read.

34530550

I kind of cheated for this one, but that’s alright. I gave more authors than single books. And I also hadn’t read most of them. But I do look forward to getting into all of these books and authors. If you have any summer suggestions or think I should start with a certain book, leave me a comment below!
